In October while I was at Kutxa Kultur Lana, one of the labels that struck a chord in the showroom was Cultto. It didn’t hurt that Maitane, creative director of the label, and Bruno, were dressed as colourfully as the distant lands evoked in their lookbook: Uganda. Kenya. Tibet. Sri Lanka. Namibia.
I love prints and colour and touches of gold (see below), so the collection was right up my alley. Plus, the way the looks were styled in the lookbook helped me dream. A turban with regular khaki ankle-grazers and equally belly-grazing slouch top? Yes please. Flat-heeled ankle boots with a tie-dyed mid-thigh dress and side-parted hair? Sartorial goodness!
If you’re in Bilbao and are all for happier prints and some special, structured jackets and dress-shirts, check out Cultto at Dos de Mayo 5. Maitane also gives courses on pattern making, clothing customization, and other useful skills for the 21st century DIY girl, and you can follow the course schedule here.
